Overview

A touch-first point-of-sale and inventory platform for everyday retail, from supermarkets to clothing and mobile shops. It keeps selling when the internet drops, keeps stock for every branch current as sales happen, and turns the end-of-day close from an hour of counting and re-typing into one step that posts straight into the accounting system.

PROBLEM

The problem

A retail counter depends on a connection it does not control, and the numbers behind it are kept in several places at once.

  • When the internet drops, the checkout freezes and the queue walks out.
  • Stock levels per branch drift away from the shelves, and reorders are guessed.
  • Installment sales are tracked in a notebook or a spreadsheet beside the till.
  • Closing the day means counting the drawer and re-typing the totals into accounting.

SOLUTION

The solution

SysaiQ built the checkout to work locally first and treat the server as the place it syncs to, not something it waits for. Stock is kept as a ledger of movements, so every branch's level is the sum of what actually happened.

  • Sales are recorded on the device and queued while offline; when the connection returns the queue syncs, and each sale carries its own id so a retry is never counted twice.
  • Sales, receipts, transfers and returns are movements per branch, so stock is live everywhere and inter-branch transfers are tracked end to end.
  • A per-branch demand forecast learns each store's sales rhythm, including seasonal peaks such as Nowruz, and drafts purchase orders before shelves empty.
  • Installment contracts, payment schedules and SMS reminders live inside the POS, linked to the customer's loyalty profile.
  • The end-of-day Z report reconciles cash, card and installment takings and posts journal entries directly to the accounting system.

The outcome

The counter keeps selling through an outage and catches up on its own afterwards. Every branch reads the same live stock, reorders are prepared before shelves run empty, and installment customers are followed up without a side notebook. Closing the day becomes a short check rather than an evening of paperwork, and the books receive the day's takings without re-typing.

Technical approach

  • Node.js / Express API with a movement-based stock ledger per branch and an idempotent sync endpoint that accepts queued offline sales safely.
  • SQLite schema for products, barcodes, movements, customers, installment contracts and day-close reports; stock levels are SQL aggregates over movements.
  • Vanilla JavaScript touch interface that runs in the browser, keeps an offline queue in local storage and syncs when the connection returns.
  • Demand forecasting runs server-side over each branch's own sales history and produces draft purchase orders for a person to approve.
  • Installment reminders and loyalty messages go through the configured SMS provider; the day-close posts balanced journal entries to the accounting system.
